Musical-poetic journey through a wondrous night
The great dreams of mankind, travelling in the mild light of the moon and the flying of thoughts into the night - in this concert, music, poetry and prose find a unity.
Dream creatures by Henry Purcell, fairies and nocturnal entourages from "Fairy Queen's" Midsummer Night's Dream or "Fantastick Spirits" by Matthew Locke populate our musical dreams, we travel through "La Notte" by Antonio Vivaldi and we indulge in classical and impressionist reveries by Joseph Haydn, Claude Debussy and Gabriel Fauré.
Two contemporary works were composed especially for Les Escapades and this programme.
Slobodan Jovanović (born 1977 in Pančevo, Serbia) shows us a new side of the Greek hero and seafarer in "between the dreams of Odysseus".
"Il sogno di Giulia" was composed by the musician, composer and gambist Fritz Keil (born 1957 in Vienna, Austria), inspired by the song "Julia Dream" by the English rock band "Pink Floyd", as well as a text passage from "Romeo and Juliet" by Shakespeare. He composed the work in a single night, the Rauhnacht from 2 to 3 January 2022.
Les Escapades realised "Dreams & Visions" with a scholarship from the German Music Council as part of the "Neustart Kultur" funding programme for ensembles.
